An Annie outfit was one of the first things I made for my Kit. Curt, great minds think alike! I love your site; your girls are very lucky to have such a devoted dad!

As a native Cincinnatian, I just LOVE Kit's map! Not to be pushy, Curt, but is there any chance you could e-mail a larger picture of it to me? I'd love to see what's written on it, but the one on the web site is too small! I want to see where everything is in Kit's world according to Curt.

Ditto what kitschywoman said about the map.I was trying my best to see what was on it but my eyes aren't that good. I could make out a couple things like Burnett woods and Fairmount but not much else.
Where did you get your base for that map, it looks as though it may be from an old city map?
I am an absolute map freak anyway, I love looking at them.
I like the Never Was section too.Talk about a wish list...

Thanks for the kind words regarding my "Items That Never Were."
The Cincinnati map is based on a 1935 City map that came from a vintage Atlas. I was really pleased that I found such a perfect map of the area in the exact time period I needed. I did a little research, and found a street with the same name as Kit's street (Abbott). Her neighborhood is located south of the center of Fairmont. The train tracks are not far to walk and just as in Kit's stories, the Hobo jungle is located near the river and the train tracks and is south of Kit's house. I have a feeling that the people who researched Kit's stories accessed similar period maps and resources to make everything authentic.
Actual places on my Map are Radio station WLW, Crosley field, the Railway yards, Fountain square, Union station (completed in 1935) and the courthouse where Kit and the Hoboes were in jail.
I also noted a convent near which a church would have run a soup kitchen.
I plan on printing up a full sized (21.25" x 31.5") map of Kit's World for my daughter Chelsea for Xmas. I originally created it to be the map on the back of Kit's Scenes & Settings. Here is a slightly bigger image: Back of Kit's Scenes & Settings
Here are some full-res images:
Full Res Sample 1
Full Res Sample 2
I could upload a full-sized version of Kit's World Map and provide a link to it if anyone was interested.
I am a big fan of Little Orphan Annie, the 1930's, Old Time Radio and Maps, so these several projects were right up my alley.
For the "Items That Never Were" page, I'm currently working on an image of Felicity's Carnival Ball outfit - she goes as Marie Antoinette!

Here is Kit's Map scaled down to 75% of full size. It's 15.9" x 23.6" and is 2.8 MB:
